Jacqueline de la Fuente is a British-Filipino artist working primarily with papier-mâché clay to create sculptural vessels, objects and wall-based works. She studied Textile Design, specialising in Weave, at Winchester School of Art, and later developed a background in textile design for interiors. Her practice remains rooted in material exploration, structure and surface, combining a hands-on and intuitive approach to making with a self-made papier-mâché clay.
Her work moves between art and object, exploring the tension between softness and structure, control and unpredictability. Forms are constructed through layering, folding and joining, with cut, compressed and eroded edges creating irregular rhythms and a sense of both familiarity and uncertainty. There is also a quiet thread of her experience of existing between cultures, nature and domesticity in the everyday, expressed through forms that suggest recognition while resisting clear definition.
