John Hobbs

John creates beautiful abstract pieces, with an ethereal almost water like finish. the paintings almost feel like they are swimming underneath the resin surface .His paintings start as an oil painting on an unprimed linen canvas which has a resin coating. The method used to produce the work is very labour intensive; the paint is built up layer by layer which when dry is often sanded back and then re-applied, it often takes a long time to complete these thought provoking experiments in colour and line.
